Birthday Nails

I was going to actually post this on my birthday (26th of December I'm a Christmas baby!).  Things got busy and I couldn't post it until now.  I was going for more of a glitter gradient and it didn't really turn out that way.  Oh well, still got compliments on them!  I used Confetti Happy Birthday! (Seemed appropriate) Essie Chinchilly and the glitter was Color Club Sugar Plum Fairy.  The glitter truly is to die for! I'm so happy my PAA secret santa got it for me!

Saint Nicholas would beat you?

I hope all of you guys had a wonderful Christmas! This year was more of a quiet one for me and my family, with the big brother and my mother's side of the family gone.  I was planning on more of a xmas skittle mani, but I guess it just wasn't in the cards for me.  So I stuck with just a simple reindeer, on my middle finger.  Classy lady as always.  To be honest, that really wasn't planned that way.  I added the reindeer before I gave up on the Christmas skittles.  ChG Ruby Pumps, and OPI Suzi loves Cowboys.

The twin got me chincilly for christmas! I've been wanting it for so long, but every-time I go and think about getting it I always put it back.  But now I have it, and it's mine lol.

Christmas Mani Day #2

Christmas Water Marble.  Expected it to be a fail, but it wasn't! I'm actually really excited about how this turned out! Granted there's a couple of nails I can't stand... but I can deal.   Awkward hands, and why yes I do my nails while on the computer.  lololol

I used Confetti Wedding White as the base, China Glaze Hey Sailor, and Starboard along with Wedding White to do the swirly stuff.

Christmas Maniure Day #1

I've been neglecting my blog a lot lately and I'm so sorry! Wrestling season just started which keeps me ridiculously busy! Also, I swear we haven't had any sunny days in Chicago since thanksgiving.  *sigh*
On the plus side my Polish-aholics Anonymous Secret Santa came in and I got the entire Beyond the Mistletoe Collection by Color Club and 5 nic's sticks by OPI! Two of them are holos! I'm so excited to try them out!
Anyways, here's my first christmas manicure.  I used  one coat of Party Hearty from last year's holiday collection by CG and three coats of Wedding White by confetti.  No clean up... sorry guys!

My first franken!

I made my first franken! I have no idea what to name it, and I'm not exactly sure if it's even going to be pretty on but it's mine and I made it!  It's really not all that special just a purple and some glitter lol.  I'll be sure to make a post using it soon!

Tiny Nubbins...Again

I had a major nail break on my right hand last night :( I attempted to deal with having one hand grown out and one as tiny nubbins and I just couldn't do it... I felt ridiculous, so here I am.  Tiny nails again and awful cuticles.   *Sigh*

Aye! My cuticles... I apologize.
China Glaze Midtown Magic.  LOVE.  Metro Collection has been a huge hit for me.  Midtown Magic is a brown with amber and golden sparkles throughout it.  2 coats.  Gosh, could my cuticles get any worse?  I had an incident playing with my kitten, Trudie and her claw clipping a part of my cuticle off on my ring finger (its very obvious in pictures).  It also doesn't help its getting super cold in Chicago, and my hands aren't feeling it!

Westside Warrior

Westside Warrior.  I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this polish.  It's the perfect army green!  I'm planning on using it for a military inpsired manicure sometime in the future!
I never got a picture of it alone, but I got a little bored so I did a tape mani over it using CG It's Alive and CG Street Chic.   Eeek my cuticles are awful! Don't look at them! LOL!

Old Nail Art

Thought I'd share a picture of some of my first nail art from about 2 year ago!! Everyone went nuts over these nails my sophomore year! To be honest I don't think it's even that great, but the concept is very cute.
I don't have any new pictures to share :(.  I paint my nails every single day, but because the sun is going down sooner I don't the time with wrestling to take good enough pictures! Speaking of wrestling, the other day I was asked what sports don't I manage and in the same breath told my nails always look beautiful and how I manage to change my polish so often. A quick dry topcoat really does change your life! :)

Offical Halloween Mani

Even though I'm pretty sure I promised myself to do a bunch of really cool Halloween inspired nails, they never happened.  So here are my nails for Halloween!

Confetti Wedding White as my base then applied ghoulish glow over base, acrylic paint for the stripes and HardCandy Pretty in Punk for the eyes.  Ghoulish Glow...sucks.  Especially compared to my Pure Ice GITD, it doesn't ever want to glow for more than 30 seconds, I'm so disappointed :(  I'm not a huge fan of this mani, but I just took what I could do in 10 minutes.

CG Trendsetter.  I LOVE this color! Ugly, pukey, mustardy greens have almost looked elegant with my fair skin and this is probably one of my favorite from the Metro Collection.
Shade

Sunlight
CG Brownstone, very fall, very brownish red.

Near Dark

First off, I swear this polish is a super dark green truly! It's a super deep almost jellyish finish dark mossy green.  When you first apply it you can see how green it is, and after two(or in my case I needed 3 to even it out completely) it turns to more of a brownish dark color.  Another Halloween color I'd consider to wear outside of October!

Glow In The Dark Comparison: Ghoulish Glow and Pure Ice GITD

After purchasing and loving the Pure Ice GITD polish from Walgreen's for $1.99 of course I "HAD" to get the Ghoulish Glow because, well, I can't pass up a polish with a cute name.  Sad isn't it?

Left to Right: Ghoulish Glow, Pure Ice, GG, Pure Ice
(Scary almost nekkid nails!) Obviously, that's what they both look like with no glow.  Ghoulish Glow is a little bit shiner than Pure Ice GITD (this seriously needs a better name than Glow In The Dark...) which dried to almost a matte finish.
Left to Right: Ghoulish Glow, Pure Ice, GG, Pure Ice
I held my hand up to a flashlight for one minute to get the best glowing result and the Pure Ice GITD defiantly glowed better than Ghoulish Glow! Overall I love both of them and can't wait to actually use Ghoulish Glow in a manicure soon!

October Haul

23 new China Glaze wandered their little selves into my home...
Skyscraper, Concrete Catwalk, Westside Warrior, Trendsetter, Loft-y Ambitions, Midtown Magic, CG in the City, Urban-Night, Traffic Jam, City Siren and Street Chic and Brownstone, all from the Metro Collection.  And I finally bought the second half of the Anchors Away Collection, and the 2011 Halloween collection.  My family's finally excepting my problem! lol!

Fantasy Makers

I promised myself I wouldn't buy either of these...until I saw them 40% off at Jewel.  Apparently I can pass them up at $1.99 but at $1.19 I couldn't. Leave it to me to not pass something up 80cents cheaper.  I purchased Black Magic and Purple Potion. Neither of them are very exciting or interesting the cute tombstone bottles sure make up for it!  PP is a purple glitter in a black base and BM is just a typical black with silver glitter in it.

Saved by the Blue and Daisies

This obviously isn't a Halloween mani but I need to start using the polish from my untried bin.
I didn't even clean up for you guys :( *hangs head*I used Saved by the Blue by WnW and acrylic paint for the daisies

Halloween Mani #1

Excuse the start of my cuticles, I've been coming into contact with MRSA disinfectant from football.  It's been killer on my hands! Here's my first Halloween mani! I used WnW Sunny Side up for the orange on the pointer finger and for the eyes on my middle finger.  WnW Black Creme on middle and as a base for Sally Hansen Pumpkin Spice, and a CG crackle.  I'm not a huge fan of crackle, but I'm feeling it for this mani.
I hope you guys have had an amazing weekend!

Car Manicures

I needed to do my nails badly.  So I brought along my lap desk and my box of nail care staples to go apple picking in Michigan with my family and some family friends. This year has officially been the 18th annual apple picking for us!  The ride was about 2 hours long and for almost the entire way I did a striped tape manicure using Butter LONDON Wallis and Suzi loves Cowboys by OPI.  I've been in love with SLC since I got it.  It's the perfect chocolatey brown color, and on a more conceited note it matches my eyes almost perfectly! Wallis is currently my favorite military-ish green color that's in my stash, so I thought the combo would be perfect together.
I originally thought I'd be able to take a picture while I was out in the orchard, but I was became busy eating apples, stepping on the rotten ones of the ground, throwing said squished rotten apples at my twin, and climbing trees so unfortunately, this is a very badly taken cell phone picture and I do apologize.
I also apologize for the state of my nails! They need to be shaped, and my cuticles need some lovin'! I've been covered almost every day in a special disinfectant to get rid of MRSA, which I spray over everything, helmets, shoulder pads, tables, wrist bands, and the footballs themselves.  I should probably try using gloves when I'm disinfecting.
I hope you all have a great week!

What I've been up too

I've been neglecting my nails lately.  So instead of a picture of my nails (that have turned into tiny nubbins thanks to football), here's my makeup/nail vanity counter.  We and by that I mean my twin and my father have to install the counter into my wall so for now it's sitting on 2 horses.   We had it designed for us a home depot and because my father purchased the counter for my room, I wasn't informed of the price, but I can't imagine it being all that expensive.  I could be wrong since I've never had to buy anything like a counter before so pardon my mistake if Iam wrong.

And here's my untried bin in it is also some of my must haves for my manicures.  Most of them are the Texas Collection's sorbets which I haven't seemed to have the patience to actually apply enough coats to cover my VNL.
Lastly here's the reason my nails turned into tiny nubbins
My team.  I adore them so much! I wouldn't change anything about being the Co-Head Equipment ManagerEven though they ruin my nails, smell awful most of the time, and well, I'm working with over 100+ hormonal teenage guys and they're rude, I honestly love it.
So bare with me and my poor nails.  They've been suffering a lot lately.
I hope you all have a lovely week :)

Jesse's Girl Glee Vs. Wet n' Wild Teal of Fortune

Pinky- Glee Ring-TOF Index- Glee Pointer- TOF

Pinky- Glee Ring-TOF Index- Glee Pointer- TOF

I finally got my hands on some Jesse's Girl Cosmetics after visiting my big brother at his base in Washington.  Overall the visit was amazing... but OMG! I got so many AMAZING polishes! My first ever Butter London purchases from these super cute boutiques, and the Riteaid near my hotel has a bunch of the Sinful Color's summer collections so I picked a couple from there.  And the little local family owned pharmacy had some amazing glass nail files for 5 bucks each... and ya'll know I picked some of those guys up.
The polish: Excuse my cuticles I had got a no chip manicure so I didn't have to worry about chips while I was on vacation. But that was a fail of a manicure... the nail technician was awful.  I was cleaning and organizing my stash of polish into sterilite containers by brand and came across how similar Glee and Teal of Fortune looked to me in the bottle.  TOF doesn't have the amazing yellowy gold flakiness that Glee has but it struck me to do a comparison.  TOF is much darker than Glee as you can see so they certainly aren't dupes for each other, and TOF doesn't stain my natural nail beds like Glee did.  Overall the application was great on both of the polish except for the wonky brush that came with TOF( the brush was splayed out in all directions).

July Birchbox

Not going to lie, I was so excited to get the Cynthia Rowley birchbox (don't know who she is but this box is so pretty!) For those who don't know for $10 you get a box of 4-5 deluxe samples and sometimes full sized products.  Great deal right?  And as excited as I was to get this, wasn't impressed at all.   These are the products that I received:

A shine spray, a fruit and nut bar, a eyebrow pencil, shower gel and a face wash.  Meh.  I've gotten much better ones before, and I was disappointed because I know there's about 10 different versions of this box, and I unfortunately don't think I got a very good one.   On a better note I love the design on the box before you open it.  I may have been disappointed in the products but this box is gorgeous!

Orly Sec 'N Dry topcoat review Raspberry Rush

I'm going to start out by saying I've tried a lot of topcoats that I've loved... Out the Door, Seche Vite, Poshe.... but I HATE Sec 'n dry by Orly! I lost my poshe topcoat in the black hole behind my bed so I had to turn to S'ND, I've used it as a manicure reviver and I absolutely love itBut as a topcoat... heck no I'm not a fan.  It didn't dry quickly at all for me, and even after an hour I still got dents in it. Which I've never experienced after an hour of using any other quick dry topcoats and a china glaze nail polish.  I'm stuck using it for the next couple of weeks until I get a chance to get a new bottle of Poshe.

Raspberry Rush by Color Club.  Smelled like those itty bitty jaw breakers that I got once at the Jelly Belly Factory I didn't really smell the raspberry but it smelled good enough to attack my father to smell  while he was trying to take a nap.  I liked the color enough but, pink polish really isn't my thing.
Smelled like these

Looked like this :)
